About AOSDA
AOSDA is dedicated to enriching the educational experiences and social interaction of Christian home-schooled students in the Central Ohio region. AOSDA provides Speech and Policy Debate instruction and coaching for Christian Home-schoolers in Columbus and the wider mid-Ohio region. We meet on Tuesdays at the First Baptist church in West Jefferson, about 15 minutes drive west of 270 near Columbus. Our students hail from the entire central Ohio region and our class sizes range from 3 to a dozen students. We currently employ four adult coaches and two student-assistant teachers to meet the demand for our classes.

Classes are divided into two distinct training courses. From early September through the end of December we provide lecture-based class instruction on Speech and Policy Debate. Speech and Debate meet on alternating Tuesdays during this period and the final class meeting is a round robin Speech and Debate competition that mimics in a small way what is to come during the next session.

This next session is referred to as competition session or second season, and consists of about 4 tournaments located in Ohio under the authority of the Christian Communicators of Ohio Speech and Debate league (CCO). Beginning in early January and running through mid-May, the schedule in general consists of one tournament each month. The club also meets as a whole each month, and depending on the tournament schedule there are usually two round robin competitions within this timeframe to keep competitors sharp and at the peak of their skills. Speech students will additionally meet for individual coaching. All club activities take place on Tuesdays; CCO tournaments begin early Friday mornings and finish late Saturday evenings. Debate runs both days, but Varsity Speech usually competes on Saturday only.
